Cheshire West and Chester Mineral Safeguarding Areas Consultation

The event is not currently available for consultation.

This is an informal consultation to key mineral related stakeholders on how we can safeguard primary minerals and gives you the opportunity to help us define which minerals should be safeguarded as well as the geographical boundary of those areas.

National minerals planning policy requires all Mineral Planning Authorities of which Cheshire West and Chester is one to define Mineral Safeguarding Areas (MSA's) in order that proven mineral resources are not needlessly sterilised by non-mineral development. Although this document outlines the minerals that are being or have been worked in the former administrative area of Cheshire, the consultation is only being undertaken on those minerals extracted in Cheshire West and Chester.

This consultation document outlines:-

  • Brief details of those mineral resources that have historically or are currently worked in Cheshire.

  • The minerals for which Cheshire West and Chester feel it appropriate for Minerals Safeguarding Areas.

  • Identifies other minerals infrastructure that could be safeguarded.

If you would like to comment on this document please respond by any of the following:
