Town and Village Design Statements are prepared by groups of residents in the parish, using local volunteers with the help of Cheshire Landscape Trust.

The purpose of a Town or Village Design Statement is to manage change in both landscape and buildings, whether large or small, in a way which reflects and harmonises with the local character of a village’s buildings, spaces and landscape setting.

The documents set out the specific nature of the landscape and features which make the areas distinctive, with guidelines on how to encourage new development that enhances and compliments what already exists.

Town and Village Design Statements will be adopted as Supplementary Planning Documents by Cheshire West and Chester Borough Council and will be a material consideration in the determination of relevant future planning applications in the areas covered by the documents.

Before the documents can be adopted, they must undergo a statutory six week public consultation period. You can read the documents by clicking the links below. If the document status is "open", you can make comments on that document. Where the status is "closed", the public consultation period has ended but you can read comments and the council's response to those comments, once they have been processed by the Spatial Planning team.
